📅February is Black History Month, and to celebrate, CCHS is highlighting Black Alumni who have made a difference in the world.
📚Zahir McGhee '98, is a Consulting Producer on the show Reasonable Doubt (Hulu), as well as being in a development deal with ABC Signature. His writing/producing credits include Scandal, Stumptown, For the People and Queens.
🎓Zahir grew up in Pennsauken, earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland before honing in on his writing talent as a post-grad at the University of Southern California, where he earned his MFA in Writing for Screen and Television.
☘️At CCHS , Zahir was involved in a diverse array of school activities including student government, yearbook and band, while managing honors classes. He counts his time on the basketball team among his greatest memories, and has returned to CCHS to be honored by the Irish Boys Basketball Team for his strong dedication to the program.
🌎When asked what advice Zahir would share with CCHS students he says:
My advice to everyone is both simple and cliched: be yourself. Life is too hard to do anything else. If you are yourself, you may not find an advocate in every room, which can hurt, but when you do? You will unearth connections with mentors and gatekeepers who will advocate for you passionately. Be genuine. Be unique. However, pay attention to your friends, peers and colleagues who exhibit traits that you admire. You can't be someone else but you can learn a lot from the folks around you. Lastly, love the things that make you different. Be curious and celebrate the differences in others -- it makes for a much more interesting ride.
☘️CCHS celebrates your many accomplishments, Zahir! We are proud to call you a CCHS alumnus.
